MWC 2019 kicks off in Barcelona on February 25 and runs through to February 28. It will bring together the latest innovations and leading-edge technology from more than 2,400 leading companies and attract more than 100,000 attendees on their annual pilgrimage to Barcelona to discover what the world’s largest technology companies have in store for 2019 and beyond.
Here are the Latest Trends Predicting
MWC 2019 could be where we first start seeing 5G handsets.
If rank MWC’s biggest topics from most important to least important this year, 5G would be at the top of that list. Carriers will be bringing mainstream trials, finalizing standards, and with Qualcomm announcing its new Snapdragon x55 this past week, ahead of the show, 5G-enabled devices will become a commercial reality in 2019. It is safe to expect that the show floor will be covered with 5G signage, and that companies will be showcasing their 5G-ready solutions. Given the massive impact that 5G is likely to have on infrastructure, connected vehicles, smart cities, personal entertainment and the significant improvements in connectivity speeds that it promises mobile users, 5G will deservedly be everywhere.
Foldable phones from Samsung and Huawei?
MWC will be our first opportunity to go hands on with the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Or perhaps we'll just get to look at one inside a locked display cabinet. We'll find out for sure next week when we're at show.
Huawei has a foldable phone in the works that looks set make its debut at MWC and throw in 5G as well. Indeed, Huawei has recently teased the arrival of a folding phone in its teaser for MWC 2019, so it now looks very likely that something along these lines is going to be shown off. It might not be available to buy, it might still be a prototype, but we should see a foldable phone from Huawei at MWC 2019. And given how good recent Huawei handsets have been, a folding Huawei phone will certainly be one that generates a lot of interest.
