Mini DP to HDMI Cable Video Settings


There are four different video display modes on the external monitor in the Win7 system

Mirror Mode: Sync image with two displays to give you a larger viewing, suitable for teaching demonstration.

Extend Mode: Extend your working desktop with spilt screen presentation to enhance work efficiency.


Show desktop only on 1: The screen is only shown on 1 monitor.

Show desktop only on 2: The screen is only shown on 2 monitor.

Duplicate these displays/Extend these displays: These two options are widely used.


Here are graphic demonstration operations:

The default audio output is “Speakers” and you can select the audio output device you want. Right click the device option and select “Set as Default Device” (Figure), and then the sound will be output from the corresponding device.

Take MacBook Pro 13 as an example and the settings of other model are identical. (Also applicable to graphics card equipped with Mini DsiplayPort)


UGREEN Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable 

Small-size end is the Mini DisplayPort connector and the other end is HDMI port.


Since many Apple computers are installed with Mac and windows dual system, so this article will take Mac and windows7 as example.


Firstly, connect your computer to the display with UGREEN Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable. (Figure)

Insert the Mini DisplayPort connector into your Macbook.


Insert the HDMI connector into your display device. Check if the signal source is compatible with the interface and select the right HDMI source.


When your MacBook is properly connected to the external monitor, the picture will appear on TV.

1. Open “System Preferences” and click “Displays”, you will see three options: “Display”, “Arrangement”, and “Color”. Select “Arrangement” and you will see two display icons, the left stands for your MacBook screen and the right stands for the external display. (Figure)

2. The default mode for the system is “Extended mode”. (The contents shown on MacBook and the external display are different.)

Open a video file and drag it to the second screen. You can surf the Internet or work on your MacBook at the same time.


3. Check the Mirror Displays on the Arrangement pane to turn the Extend mode into Mirror mode. The contents shown on MacBook and the external display will be same. (Figure)

Note: Click on "Displays" under the "System Preferences", it also pops up a "HDMI" option. (Figure)


Under this option, you can adjust the resolution of the external display. The required resolution can be adjusted according to the needs of different users.


Adjust the resolution of MacBook and the external display separately under Extend mode.


Adjust the resolution of MacBook and the external display simultaneously under Mirror mode.

This allows you to set the desired video display mode as needed

Open “System Preferences” and click “Sound”, you will see three options: “Sound Effects”, “Output”, and “Input”. Select “Output” and select “HDMI”. Then you can hear the sound on TV. (Figure)

If you can't hear the sound yet, please restart your MacBook.


Note: The MacBook and TV cannot output sound at the same time because of limitations of the system itself.


We recommend that you set to Expand mode and choose the external display as audio output. Thus you can do different things on the two screens at the same time.
